I had wondered whether Evie would have gotten her own book, but when I saw that instead she was going to get a sorta squeezed-in there story, I said, well, okay. I was kind of interested in Evie due to the fact that she was the odd one out in her family. Or maybe outsider is a better word. She doesn't share the same father as her older brothers; Rafe, Shane and Clay. Her father was a cowboy that Shane had brought home for dinner when he was a teen. Apparently their mother was still grieving over the loss of their dad and she took comfort in the arms of this man.Her mother was devastated and just never took to her daughter. She essentially raised herself with the help of one or two of her older brothers. But even with their slight help, they were all still worlds apart. So she left home as soon as she was old enough and never looked back... until an accident brings her back to Fool's Gold and ends her career as a cheerleader for a major football team and into the arms of one very unexpected man.Dante is this big, hot shot lawyer who is the business partner of Evie's oldest brother, Rafe. He's ruthless, slightly uptight at having to move their business to the small town of Fool's Gold, and very much a fine looking, well dressed man. Who is annoyed at the fact that his and Rafe's office resides beneath a dance studio for children. A studio that Evie just happens to be working at.Sparks really do fly between these two, but it takes awhile before these two ever get together. But when they do it's like nothing they've ever had before. Though they both deny that there's more to their relationship than it just being a fling -since Evie plans on moving back to the city, and Dante doesn't want to risk his heart- they just can't stay apart in the end. I rather loved the ending. I especially loved the whole setting of Christmas in Fool's Gold, and the town getting ready for the Christmas dance and the tree trimming ceremony. And these two great characters coming together in the end. This was one shorter than the others, but still rather lovely.
